I'm a wife and mother...daughter, sister, aunt...teacher and learner.
In all the roles in my life, I look for the beauty in God's creation.
Through photography, I appreciate this wonderful life we have been given.
A little over eight years ago, my husband came home on the day of our son's first birthday party with a Nikon D40 digital camera. While I was in need of a new, reliable camera for the event (as well as all the family photos to come), I had never used anything other than a point-and-shoot camera before. I set it to Auto and went about the business of the party. Later, Greg challenged me to learn to shoot in Manual. Thus began my journey into the hobby of photography.
Then, just a few years ago, I began teaching my students about the need to "sharpen your saw" to keep your life balanced. I realized that I was not following my own advice and evaluated what I did to feed my interests. Exploring the more artistic side of photography was my answer. I fell in love with photographing my son and other family members, working to create portraits worthy of display on the living room wall or the annual Christmas card.
Fast forward to today, I've now found the joy of sharing this creative side of myself with others. I've taken the step from simply taking family pics for my Facebook page to creating portraits for others. Although I am not giving up my "day job" (teaching is and always will remain my true calling), I am building a family-friendly photography business. If you are in need of capturing your family's moment in time, please consider my work and message me. I am available evenings and weekends during the school year and almost daily throughout the summer. Thank you!
